Will I need a CPAP if I'm diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
Not necessarily. It depends on what your home sleep apnea test shows. CPAP is commonly recommended for the treatment of moderate to severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). If you have mild OSA, there may be other treatment options you can consider like oral appliance, positional therapy, weight loss, etc.
Home Sleep Test vs Sleep Lab
Home Sleep Test vs Sleep Lab
For uncomplicated Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a home sleep test (HSAT) is often the first choice. A sleep lab study is used when more detailed testing is needed.
Home Sleep Apnea Test:
- Done in your own home
- Easier, more comfortable and less expensive
- Good for diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Sleep Lab (Polysomnography):
- Done overnight in a sleep clinic
- More sensors are used to get more details
- Good if you have complex sleep problems or a home test is negative but symptoms continue

Does a home sleep apnea test qualify for ADP coverage if I'm diagnosed with sleep apnea?
Does a home sleep apnea test qualify for ADP coverage if I'm diagnosed with sleep apnea?
